Another perfect weekend away with some of my favorite humans. Thanks to a co-worker's epic triumph for a day's worth of work; we were able to visit one of our company's sister resort for the weekend. The squad packed up in E's Tahoe and headed to Canyon Lake, TX to stay in one of the presidential suits at Silverleaf Hill Country Resort!
The trip had already been categorized as a "cheap getaway" due to the lack-there-of that was our bank accounts.
The first stop on the road trip obviously ended up being Jack in the Box. The women that were working did not attempt to hide their irritation for our long, complicated orders, which resulted in the food being nothing more than eatable. But, our bellies were full and our souls beamed with excitement for the upcoming 5-hour drive to our 24-hour getaway.
We arrived and marveled at our fancy digs that was the presidential suit. Fran and I got the guest room (which included a separate kitchen and bathroom), K and G took the master, E and C took the pull out couch bed, and KW found himself on a air mattress in the living area.
After unloading the car we decided to check out the resort that we had been competing against all year. After marveling over the activity center, pools, and arcade, we rented out one volleyball and basketball to entertain us for the next two hours. VB was first; teams consisted of myself, E, K (sometimes), and KW vs Fran, G, and C. Each team won a game but the boys ended up being victorious. Molly was the much appreciated cheerleader on the sideline. The boys then played a game of Bball with a strange, lost older yet interesting white man named Doug. Shortly after the game began, K and E set off towards a grocery store to prepare dinner. Chili dogs, nachos, and a game of Taboo ended the evening nicely.
The next morning, E and I got donuts for the squad before leaving for a fairly quick game of mini golf. ⛳️ No winners were named (partially because we were unsure of the rules), but there were plenty of laughs.
We also found ourselves sneaking inside HC's outside sales office. KW left them a message with good faith and competitive intentions.
The next action on the agenda was packing up and heading to Austin for a pit-stop on the way home. But before we made it off the resort, I obviously had to stop to take my pup's picture in the bluebonnets. 😋
Fran drove us to Austin and our first stop was the HOPE Outdoor Gallery. The hike up the structure was more steep and dangerous than we had anticipated. But the local art gallery and view of the skyline were well worth the trip.
We found a local sports bar that accepted out four-legged family member about a block from the Gallery. We munched on wings and steak street tacos before hitting the open road back to normalcy. We made one last stop for Beaver Nuggets at Buck-ees gas station to end the frugal, fun-filled weekend. 🌲☀️
